    TOKYO (MNI) - Business confidence among large Japanese
    manufacturers surveyed after the devastating March 11 earthquake and
    tsunami will likely show a negative result in a special post-quake
    Tankan to be released Monday, according to a survey of analysts
    conducted by Market News International.

    The economists surveyed suggested the survey will show a headline
    result anywhere from -5 to -24.

    The Bank of Japan will release an updated version of its quarterly
    Tankan business sentiment survey at 0850 JST on Monday, April 4 (2350
    GMT Sunday).

    TOKYO (MNI) - New vehicle sales in Japan fell at the fastest pace
    in nearly 37 years in March as the March 11 earthquake wrecked
    production facilities, distribution networks and power plants in
    northeastern Japan, according to data released by the Japan Automobile
    Dealers Association on Friday.

    TOKYO (MNI) - Japanese consumer sentiment was improving on a
    gradual economic recovery before the March 11 earthquake and tsunami,
    posting the first rise in three quarters, according to the results of
    the Bank of Japan's quarterly survey released on Friday.

    Higher food and energy costs have led many consumers to
    believe prices will rise in the future, the survey showed.

    But the results of the survey, which was conducted between Feb. 9
    and March 7, didn't reflect the disaster that smashed the northeastern
